August 2018 Scholarship Deadlines are approaching!

There are 8 plus pages of scholarships available on the El Camino High School website, Under the Academic Tab, College & Career Readiness - August 2018 Newsletter. If you plan to attend College, Trade School, etc., you can find many scholarships available for you that you would qualify for and can complete the application process on-line at the websites provided. Each month this newsletter is updated for our El Camino High School students. Copies of this are always available at the school site in all the offices and in the senior classes. Check it out and start filling these scholarship applications out so you can get some free money to further your education after high school graduation!

STUDENT PARKING PERMITS

In order for El Camino High School students to park on NLMUSD property (El Camino High School), they MUST HAVE A CURRENT STUDENT PARKING PERMIT AT ALL TIMES. Any student in violation of Parking Permit Rules and Procedures and without a CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR Student Parking Permit, is subject to having their car towed immediately! Student Parking Permit applications are on this website under the Students tab (on the main page). They are also available on the counters in the main office and in the Data Office, Rm. 21. Every El Camino High School student who wants to park in the Parking Lot, MUST have a current Student Parking Permit on the car and filed with the main office.

Aug. 16 is First Day of School for All NLMUSD Campuses

The first day of school is Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018. All 28 campuses in our district, which encompasses the cities of Norwalk, La Mirada and a portion of Santa Fe Springs, are still accepting new students.

For enrollment information, including required documents such as birth certificates, immunization records and proof of residence, visit www.nlmusd.org/sfs/ or email enroll@nlmusd.org or call 562-210-2102.

CERRITOS COMMUNITY COLLEGE CAN BE FREE!

Cerritos Community College (CCC), will be once again, offering FREE tuition and books for any graduating senior (2018) if they can make a commitment to earn either a certificate or transfer to a four-year college within three-years or less of their initial Fall 2018 enrollment at CCC. Cerritos Complete is CCC’s “Exit Strategy” that targets NLMUSD Graduates to increase degree and certificate

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR ALL STUDENTS

Welcome Back to School for the 2018-2019 school year! The First Day of School will be on Thursday, August 16th, beginning at 7:50 a.m. It is a Minimum Day for all students this day only. Students are released at 12:30 p.m. School will resume to a regular bell school, beginning on Friday, August 17th, at which time, school is out at 1:45 p.m.

Program Verification Days

This year, Program Verification for all RETURNING El Camino High School students will be on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 7th and Aug. 8. The times will be from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Ms. Mejia and Mrs. Avila will be available to meet with you and go over your schedule for this year. Make sure you bring back your Emergency Form and the other forms inside your Registration Packet you received in the mail.

RIO HONDO COMMUNITY COLLEGE - SUMMER BRIDGE PROGRAM

Rio Hondo Community College’s (RHCC) Summer Bridge Program (SBP) is designed for current Seniors (2018) to make a smooth transition to enroll at RHCC for Fall 2018. Interested students MUST ATTEND a half-day mandatory Summer Orientation that includes an introduction to the RHCC campus and what the SBP and Math Academy has to offer.
